Thank you and happy summer

The anniversary of the Arctic Fox Center was held on a very sunny day last Sunday. There was an open house from 13-17 and we offered everyone a birthday cake from Gamla Bakaríið which had a drawn arctic fox made of chocolate on it. We also had free soda for everyone to wash down all the cakes. Outside we had facepainting, a bouncy castle, live music and we also showed the film One Scene which was filmed mostly here in Súðavík. Estimated number of visitors was about 400 people. We want to thank everyone for an amazing day.

Along with the anniversary party, we also celebrated our new staff members and the construction being done around the center. Right now, a bridge is being built over Eyrardalsá, we are reforming the cage for the foxes and we are also going to make a fire place next to our new patio.

We just got some very beautiful and comfortable chairs from Sólóhúsgögn. If you want to guarantee yourself a seat in our coffee house you should mark one of those chairs, it only costs 20.000 ISK.

The first trip to Hornstrandir is on Wednesday 12th of June when we go to Hlöðuvík with the family of the late Dr. Páll Hersteinsson. We will stay in Búðabær where the research started back in 1998. That research is documented in Páll's book "The Arctic Foxes of Hornstrandir". On Saturday we will go to Hornvík to monitor tourists and foxes. Going on the trip along with our director Ester are Eric Maes from Belgium, Chloe Natar from Switzerland, Julien Joly from France and Fiona Stoddart from Scotland. They have all helped us in the Arctic Fox Center lately and have made the community in Eyrardalur very happy.

A good start to the summer in the Arctic Fox Center - we look forward to seeing you
